Built by a celiac parent, for the celiac community
My daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease when she was four years old. From that moment, every restaurant visit became a challenge. Translating medical needs across language barriers, hoping the waiter actually understood, carrying a stack of printed cards that got crumpled, lost, or simply didn't exist for the country we were visiting.
I'm a software developer, so I did what I know best: I built an app. Not a generic translation tool, but a proper medical dietary card based on official celiac guidelines, available in 26 languages, working completely offline. It helps at the local Chinese restaurant where the chef reads Chinese just as much as it does on vacation.
SafePlate isn't backed by a company. It's a personal project born from a real need. If it helps even one family travel with a little less worry, it was worth every late night building it.
